Rule 10 – Respect the Academy.
Pick up after yourself after classes. We are located inside of another gym, and its important for us to keep our area clean so we can continue to have this space to practice Jiu Jitsu in.
Rule 8 – Do Not Ask for a Promotion – Trust your professor! Every journey is different, and promotions will be awarded accordingly. Be aware that your attendance contributes to your progress towards the next promotion as well.
Rule 7 – Appropriate Attire – Its important to limit skin to skin, and skin to mat contact. Rash guards must be worn underneath of Gi’s. Please also wear spats/leggings under shorts. In addition, NO holes/pockets in clothes, NO Zippers and absolutely NO Jewelry.
Rule 6 – Match the Intensity – Everyone has somewhere to be tomorrow, and we would like everyone to return to train the next day. Being overly rough during a roll takes your training partners off the mat, and no one gets better when this happens.
Rule 5 – Tap and Tap Early - Although we ask everyone to follow Rule 4, you are also responsible for your own safety to a certain extent. If you don’t know how to get out of something, then tap. If you are caught and can’t escape, tap.
Rule 4 – Submit Slowly and Safely – Hurting each other in unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Accidents happen, but before sparring at our gym, you will need approval by rolling with higher belts, and keeping everyone safe while learning is our main priority.
Rule 3 – Hygiene for your Gear, Body and Nails - Your gear should be washed regular after every use.
Rule 2 – Don’t train with rashes or skin infections! Covered is still contagious! This includes Ringworm, Herpes Simplex “Mat Herpes”, Impetigo and Staph/MRSA. Please seek treatment at the first sign of a rash or skin infection and do not return to train until it is no longer contagious.
Rule 1 – Shoes – No shoes on the mat and shoes must be worn off the mat! (ESPECIALLY in the Bathroom). We work hard to provide a safe and clean training environment for our students. We would like to reduce the risk skin infections, and bacteria on our mats.
Rule 9 – NO Slamming – There are no exceptions to this rule. If you pick up your partner, you are solely responsible for the their safe mat return.
